Steel Form Deck (commonly known simply as Form Deck or Non-Composite Floor Deck) is a structural steel panel used exclusively as a permanent mold or shuttering for poured concrete floor slabs .Unlike composite floor decks, steel form deck features a smooth surface profile with no mechanical embossments . Because the steel does not bond structurally with the concrete, it does not act as tensile reinforcement for the cured slab . Instead, its primary engineering role is to support the weight of wet concrete and construction workers during the pouring phase, while the long-term structural load of the floor relies entirely on internal steel rebar or wire mesh embedded in the concrete .
